Job Description
Hands on Life Enrichment/Activities Coordinator, for NYS DOH Licensed Assisted Living Center Program which caters primarily to the Mental Health Population Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Offer adequate and diversified recreational activities to residents with sufficient supervision for each activity. Develop programs for residents Engage and motivate residents resulting in program participation. Inform residents of upcoming activities and maintains a current schedule of events on the bulletin board in accordance with NYS DOH regulations. Greet new residents making a special effort to include and engage them in activities and introduce them to others in the community with similar interests and backgrounds. Assist in planning parties, including monthly birthday parties to honor residents and holidays, as well as decorating the community according to the season and/or holiday throughout the year. . The successful candidate will have at a minimum: - An Associate degree, from an accredited college or university, majoring in recreation or a related field; or - Two years of full-time experience in the recreation field with a dependent, adult population. This is a salaried position, typically scheduled 40 hours a week (occasional evening and weekend hours required), reporting directly to the Administrator. The Activities Leader is part of the leadership and interdisciplinary care team. The Activities Leader is responsible for planning, organizing, scheduling and providing a diverse activities program for the residents. All activities involve not only caring for, but caring about, the residents. The activities are meaningful, fun, and life enriching to the extent possible based upon the residents and their psycho-social and functional status.
