A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Full Time Recreational Therapist/Community Life Leader to join our enthusiastic team at Artman! Artman Retirement Community in Ambler, PA, has a reputation as one of the BEST senior health care providers. We take pride in our dedicated team members who support and care for our residents. Key job responsibilities include:
Community Life develops and facilitates each household's plan to carry out residents' personal interests and social activities. Responsible for assisting with neighborhood events and Artman Community Life events including creating a diversity of opportunities for meaningful pursuits of resident leisure time (daily pleasures, opportunities for developing friendships, growth and learning) while creating personal routines and household rituals. Work with all household members to ensure that programs are designed to enhance physical, mental, religious, and social needs of residents. Provide opportunities to help residents remain a part of the outside community (trips out to the community-invite outside community in). Develop and provide educational programs for diverse interests of residents. Provide education and training to all household members needed to achieve a well-rounded meaningful Community Life program.
Shift Available:
Full-Time 8:30am/8:45am-4:30pm/4:45pm including every third weekend.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree. Certified by National Council for Therapeutic Recreation specialists, CTRS or NCAP or NAAP Certification (preferred). Experience in social or recreational programming with senior citizens or in a health care setting required. Eligible for Helping Hands certification. $22.54 per hour Expected hours: 37.5 per week
