Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Assistant to support the well-being and engagement of residents in a senior living environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in recreational therapy, event planning, and senior care, with a focus on fostering meaningful activities that enhance residents' quality of life. As an Activities Assistant-PT, you will coordinate and implement engaging programs tailored to residents' interests and needs, while building rapport and promoting a vibrant community atmosphere. Duties Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities and events designed to promote socialization, mental stimulation, and physical activity among residents. Assist with the development of individualized activity plans that address residents' cognitive, emotional, and physical needs, including those with dementia or memory care requirements. Coordinate resident events such as outings, celebrations, and themed activities to encourage participation and community involvement. Support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety during participation. Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation, preferences, and progress related to activity programs. Foster positive relationships with residents by building rapport through attentive communication and personalized engagement. Collaborate with team members—including nursing staff, caregivers, and family members—to ensure holistic care approaches that incorporate recreational therapy principles. Manage schedule logistics for activities to maximize resident involvement while adhering to facility policies. Qualifications Prior experience in assisted living or long-term care settings is highly desirable, especially within nursing homes or geriatric facilities. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and memory support programs is essential for effectively working with residents experiencing cognitive decline. Demonstrated skills in event planning, program development, and recreational therapy tailored for seniors. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and communication purposes. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs within a geriatric population is preferred. Strong communication skills to effectively engage residents, team members, and families. Ability to coordinate resident events while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
