Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Recreation Therapist to join our brand new psychiatric hospital. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing therapeutic recreation programs that enhance the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our clients. This role requires a strong understanding of various therapeutic techniques and the ability to work with diverse populations, specifically older adult patients. The Recreation Therapist will play a crucial role in promoting engagement and improving quality of life through recreational activities. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' needs and preferences for recreational activities. Develop individualized treatment plans that incorporate therapeutic recreation strategies tailored to each client. Facilitate group and individual therapy sessions using various modalities such as dance therapy, arts and crafts, sports, and games. Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including healthcare providers, to provide holistic care. Educate clients and their families about the benefits of recreational therapy and encourage participation in programs. Maintain accurate documentation of client assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes. Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants during recreational activities. Skills The successful candidate will possess the following skills: Experience in dementia care and senior care practices. Strong behavior management skills to support clients with challenging behaviors. Ability to conduct thorough patient assessments for individualized care planning. Experience working with individuals with disabilities across various settings. Knowledge of behavioral health principles relevant to therapeutic recreation. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and team members.
