Sunny View Nursing Home, a respected 57-bed facility in Lincoln, Rhode Island, is seeking a dynamic Activities Director to lead our vibrant resident programs. As our Activities Director, you'll be instrumental in shaping a rich social calendar, creating memorable experiences for our residents both on and off-premises.

Game Nights:
Bingo, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy Social Gatherings:
Pizza Parties, Wine and Cheese Parties, and Football Sundays Outings:

Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience working with geriatrics or frail residents. Prior experience as an activities leader is highly valued.
Certifications:
Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) preferred. Candidates actively enrolled in a CTRS program and seeking certification will be considered, provided they work under the supervision of a certified individual for a minimum of 8 hours per week.
Special Requirements Knowledge & Skills:
Comprehensive understanding of the mental, physical, and recreational needs and limitations of the geriatric population. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language. Ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment in daily responsibilities. Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public, while coping with the mental and emotional stress of residents and the position. Possess patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, with a willingness to engage residents at their individual maturity levels. Ability to seek out new methods and principles and integrate them into existing activity programs. Sincere desire to work with the aged, disabled, and geriatric population. Understanding of the social, psychological, and recreational needs of the aged.
Licensure:
Must possess a valid state driver's license and be eligible for facility auto insurance coverage.
Availability:
Willingness to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required to meet program needs. Physical Demands The role involves physical activities such as lifting equipment and supplies. The Activities Director will frequently stand, sit, walk, reach, bend, kneel, push, pull, and move intermittently throughout the workday in well-lighted and ventilated areas. The position operates in all areas of the facility and is subject to frequent interruptions, exposure to infectious diseases, substances, and odors. Candidates must be economical and careful with supplies, equipment, and materials. Essential sight and hearing senses, with or without prosthetics, are required to fulfill job duties. Applicants must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability, with the ability to relate to and work, under all conditions and circumstances, with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile individuals within the facility.
