Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director for Independent Living to lead engaging, meaningful programs for residents in an independent living community. In this vital role, you will design, coordinate and execute a diverse array of recreational activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, physical wellness and overall quality of life. Your enthusiasm and creativity will inspire residents to stay active, connected and fulfilled while fostering a vibrant community atmosphere. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of seniors by leveraging your expertise in senior care, recreational therapy and program development. Duties Develop and implement a comprehensive activity calendar tailored to residents' interests, abilities and health needs, including memory care and dementia-friendly programs Plan and coordinate engaging events such as arts and crafts, social outings, fitness classes, music therapy sessions and educational workshops Collaborate with staff members to assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) and ensure safety during participation Foster a welcoming environment that encourages socialization among residents with diverse backgrounds and abilities Manage scheduling logistics for activities and transportation arrangements for outings Monitor resident participation and gather feedback to continuously improve programming quality and relevance Maintain detailed records of activities conducted, resident engagement levels and any special needs or accommodations required Qualifications Proven experience in assisted living or long-term care settings with a focus on senior or geriatric populations Strong background in event planning, recreational therapy or program development for older adults Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease, dementia care, memory care strategies and aging issues counseling Familiarity with caregiving practices related to assisting with ADLs (activities of daily living) such as mobility, hygiene and nutrition support Compassionate approach to working with geriatric patients and those experiencing cognitive decline or memory issues Strong organizational skills to oversee multiple programs simultaneously while ensuring safety and compliance Join us in creating an enriching environment where seniors can thrive!
