A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Responsibilities
There is an immediate opening for a dynamic, committed full-time recreation therapist for the outpatient Day Neuro and SCI Max Programs at Baylor Scott and White Institute for Rehabilitation, Dallas.

We serve adults with acquired brain injuries and spinal cord injuries in an outpatient setting. The recreation therapist works in a team environment with a physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, and neuropsychologist to create a comprehensive rehabilitation program to meet the individual needs of the patient and family. The successful applicant will have experience working with adults with acquired brain injury/spinal cord injury; will have understanding of impact of brain injury and spinal cord injury on participation in leisure activities; will be able to create individualized treatment plans targeting return to leisure and community reintegration; and will demonstrate personal characteristics of creativity and flexibility.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
1. Baccalaureate Degree in Therapeutic Recreation required. 2. Current national certification from NCTRC as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required. 3. Should have certified experience in a medical setting. \#BSWIR-Outpatient
