Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging programs and events that enrich the lives of our residents. In this vital role, you will create a vibrant community atmosphere by developing and coordinating diverse recreational activities tailored to the unique needs of seniors, including those with memory care requirements. Your enthusiasm and organizational skills will foster social interaction, promote well-being, and enhance the overall quality of life for our residents. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and execute a variety of engaging activities and events that cater to residents' interests and abilities, including recreational therapy sessions and social gatherings. Develop innovative programs that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being, with special attention to Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and memory support. Build strong rapport with residents through personalized interaction, ensuring activities are meaningful and inclusive. Coordinate resident events by managing schedules, securing necessary resources, and collaborating with staff members to ensure smooth execution. Maintain detailed records of activities, participation levels, and resident feedback to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Communicate regularly with residents' families and team members to update them on upcoming events and gather input for program development. Lead a team of activity assistants or volunteers, providing guidance, training, and motivation to deliver high-quality recreational experiences. Qualifications Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or long-term care settings; prior nursing home or senior care experience is highly desirable. Strong background in recreational therapy, caregiving, or working directly with seniors—especially those with Alzheimer's or dementia. Familiarity with program development tailored to geriatric patients and individuals with disabilities. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, and team members. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, documentation, and communication purposes. Ability to manage schedules efficiently while balancing multiple activities simultaneously.
