A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

$50 per hour About Us Myndfit Mental Health, LLC partners with families across Texas to provide specialized in-home and community-based services for children with emotional disturbances who are a part of the Yes Waiver program. Opportunities to provide Aquatics Therapy (if certified) and other recreation-based interventions.

Coverage Provided:

Myndfit covers both general liability and professional malpractice insurance. Responsibilities Provide in-home and community-based Recreation Therapy services to youth and families. Improve participants' well-being by developing their self-reliance and resiliency, and improve participants' functioning and independence in the community, while reducing or eliminating the effects of their serious mental, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. Support skill development, emotional regulation, and social interaction through structured activities. Document progress and collaborate with the care team to meet treatment goals. Deliver services in alignment with the state program requirements. Qualifications A recreation therapy provider must be: A licensed professional or provisional intern under the supervision of a licensed clinician (to the extent allowed by the licensing or certification entity) with documented training and experience relative to the specific service provided. These may include a licensed clinical social worker, licensed professional counselor, licensed marriage and family therapist, RN, licensed vocational nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, or licensed dietitian; or Certified by the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification; or Certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Texas Certified by the Consortium for Therapeutic Recreation/Activities Certification, Inc.
