Job Description

Mercy seeks a Specialty-RN in Infectious Disease to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to patients with complex infections. The RN will coordinate multidisciplinary treatment plans, administer medications and therapies, monitor clinical status, and provide patient and family education on infection prevention and disease management. Responsibilities include collaborating with physicians, infection prevention teams, and allied health staff, maintaining accurate documentation, adhering to safety and isolation protocols, and supporting quality improvement initiatives in a compassionate, patient-centered environment. Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to patients with infectious diseases using evidence-based practices Administer IV medications, antibiotics, and therapies while monitoring for adverse reactions Implement and maintain strict infection control and isolation protocols Collaborate with physicians, infection preventionists, and multidisciplinary teams on care plans Educate patients and families on infection prevention, treatment plans, and discharge care Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EHRParticipate in quality improvement and infection prevention initiatives Support orientation and mentoring of new staff and students in infectious disease care Required Skills Infectious disease nursing IV medication administration Antibiotic stewardship support Central line care Wound care and dressing changes Isolation and infection control protocols Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Patient and family education Care coordination with multidisciplinary teams Vital signs and symptom assessment
