1 Description American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg Telemetry RN for a nights position requiring at least 1 year of MedSurg experience and telemetry strip interpretation skills. Details Acute care Med Surg Telemetry/PCU unit with 30 beds across three 10-bed units Patient ratios of 1:5-6 Cares for surgical patients (total hip/knee replacement, small bowel resection, hysterectomy, exploratory lap) and medical patients (MRSA, C-diff, suicide attempt, substance withdrawal, COPD, pneumonia, COVID) Telemetry patients presenting with chest pain Uses Cerner EMR Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (1900-0730) Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday for nights) Holiday rotation required to fairly distribute coverage May be required to rotate for low census standby First to float among staff, including to Multi Care Unit, Pediatric unit, and West Campus MedSurg Tele Remote Monitor Techs support the unit, but RNs must read their own telemetry strips Nursing assistants typically care for 10-15 patients; RN provides primary care for 3 patients if no NA is available Cares for stable CPAP/BiPAP patients Requirements Active AZ state or compact RN license required BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum 1 year of MedSurg experience required Telemetry experience preferred Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract Must be willing to precept nursing students Must be willing to care for both MST and PCU patients Driver's license copy required for consideration Additional Information Charge RN oversees 50 inpatient beds spanning MST, Pediatrics, and the Acuity Adaptable MCU (which admits
ICU/PCU/MST
patients) Any scrub color permitted except camouflage Orientation includes hospital-wide orientation plus unit-specific orientation based on experience level New hires complete a pass/fail sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on the first day of orientation Failing the dysrhythmia or sterile technique exam twice results in ineligibility for CommonSpirit AZ and Sacramento facilities for 6 months Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year Candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
