Travel Oncology Nurse assignments allow you to deliver specialized care to patients undergoing cancer treatment in advanced hospital settings. As a travel oncology nurse, you will administer chemotherapy, monitor complex symptoms, and support patients and families through challenging treatment journeys. You must have an active registered nurse (RN) license, a nursing degree from an accredited program, and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Most facilities require at least 1 year of recent oncology experience, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, and familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Oncology-specific certifications, such as Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), may be preferred. The facility may be a Magnet-recognized hospital or a cancer treatment center, offering exposure to multidisciplinary teams and diverse patient populations. Recommended skills include strong communication, emotional resilience, and the ability to manage complex medication regimens.
