GLC Government Services is seeking a Paramedic to support a government contract at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) and Federal Prison Camp (FPC) in Herlong, California, serving an incarcerated population.

Place of Performance:

Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays, normally between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The position requires approximately 40 hours per week, scheduled 4-5 days per week, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period, if applicable.

Requirements:

Must hold a current California Paramedic license. Must provide verification of education, current licensure, competency status, and continuing medical education. Must maintain current CPR certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Must provide supporting documentation, including applicable diplomas, certificates, and licenses.

Job Duties:

Evaluates patients and provides therapeutic treatment as ordered by clinical staff. Triages sick-call requests and assists with scheduling patients with Mid-Level Providers. Administers prescribed medications, immunizations, skin testing, intravenous fluids, and performs venipuncture. Obtains patient health histories and accurately documents findings in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR). Performs diagnostic testing, including laboratory specimen collection, visual-acuity testing, and EKGs, as directed by healthcare providers. Assists Physicians and Mid-Level Practitioners with chronic-care clinics, including care for patients with hypertension, diabetes, and asthma. Records vital signs, patient conditions, treatments, and provider orders in BEMR. Reviews clinical records for complete, accurate, and properly placed documentation. Screens for distance vision, near vision, and color blindness. Operates EKG, Clinitek, and other CLIA-waived laboratory equipment. Provides basic first aid, CPR, and preventive-care guidance for common illnesses and injuries. Logs inmate arrivals and departures and monitors patient flow within the Health Services Department. Prepares organized medical-record information for Physicians, Practitioners, and internal or external Consultants. Participates in Improving Organizational Performance activities by collecting and aggregating data. Provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of patients. Interested?
