Job Description

Adventist Health seeks an experienced RN Lead for our Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units, Full Time Nights. In this leadership role, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based care for mothers and newborns while coordinating unit workflows and mentoring bedside nurses. Responsibilities include maternal-fetal assessment, medication administration, supporting deliveries, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and patient education. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in our faith-based environment, promoting whole-person care, safety, and quality outcomes while fostering teamwork and professional growth. Responsibilities Provide and coordinate nursing care for laboring, postpartum, and newborn patients on night shift Lead and mentor RN team, assigning patients and overseeing clinical workflows Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret clinical data, and escalate concerns promptly Administer medications, IV therapies, and pain management per provider orders and protocols Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, family-centered care Educate patients and families on birth, postpartum recovery, and newborn care Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements Participate in quality improvement, staff education, and shared governance initiatives Required Skills Labor and delivery nursing Postpartum nursing Newborn assessment and care Fetal monitoring interpretation IV therapy and medication administration Charge/lead nurse coordination Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Emergency response in obstetrics (e.g., hemorrhage, preeclampsia) Patient and family education Interdisciplinary care coordination
