Job Title:
Operating Room Circulating Registered Nurse Job Description This role is a circulating Registered Nurse position that serves as a fill-in/float resource for the operating floor. You will support the surgical team in every aspect outside of the surgery room, ensuring safe, efficient, and well-coordinated patient care before, during, and after operative procedures. The position offers the opportunity to work in a specialty hospital environment with the potential to transition into a permanent role if it is a mutual fit. Responsibilities Coordinate communication between the surgical team, patient families, and support staff throughout procedures. Prepare and maintain operating rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies to ensure case readiness. Support surgical procedures by anticipating team needs, managing specimens, and performing accurate counts to ensure patient safety. Sterilize, decontaminate, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment in compliance with facility standards. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and clinical staff to promote a safe, efficient, and compliant operating room environment. Essential Skills Current licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS or ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications, or the ability to obtain them within six months of employment. Capacity to work effectively in a specialty hospital operating room setting. Basic computer and documentation skills Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a clinical office environment. Progressive work experience in an operating room of at least 6 months, including clinical responsibilities; management experience is highly preferred. Ability to speak and understand additional languages beyond English. Experience in ENT, Orthopedics, GI, or General Surgery is a plus. Work Environment This position is based in a specialty physician hospital operating room environment. The schedule consists of four 9-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with rotating days off, providing a structured daytime work pattern. You will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, scrub nurses, scrub techs, and sterile processing staff in a fast-paced, highly coordinated clinical setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Leawood, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
