Athena. Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide immediate, comprehensive nursing care to patients experiencing acute medical conditions in a fast-paced emergency environment. Your expertise will support rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment of diverse patient populations, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality care. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical histories, to determine acuity levels and prioritize care needs. Administer medications and treatments with precision, including IV infusions, injections, suturing, and medication management in accordance with physicians' orders. Utilize advanced EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient information accurately and efficiently. Manage airway interventions, ventilator support, and aseptic techniques during emergency procedures. Perform diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, phlebotomy, and basic imaging procedures like CT scans when necessary. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with complex conditions including trauma, infectious diseases, or chronic illnesses. Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families during stressful situations while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support trauma response protocols within Level I or Level II trauma centers by participating in trauma medicine procedures and critical care interventions. Assist in discharge planning by coordinating follow-up care, referrals for specialty services such as cardiology or ophthalmology, and providing health coaching. Maintain sterile processing standards during procedures such as suturing or ostomy care while adhering to infection control protocols. Skills Proven experience working in emergency medicine environments with exposure to Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is advantageous. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, critical care procedures, airway management, and acute pain management techniques. Demonstrated ability to perform advanced skills such as catheterization (urinary or cardiac), tube feeding management, and ventilator operation. Excellent clinical judgment combined with effective communication skills for triage assessments and interdisciplinary collaboration. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health cases, individuals with disabilities or developmental delays. Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining patient safety during invasive procedures. Ability to adapt quickly in high-pressure situations while maintaining attention to detail and delivering compassionate patient-centered care. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), or equivalent credentials required.
