Full Job Description Primary Purpose of Job:
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the care needs and responses of all assigned patients in collaboration with other disciplines while providing for patient care needs. Coordinates the services provided by all disciplines. Manages all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment. Is responsible for adhering to hospice, nursing and human resources policies, procedures and standards in a safe manner. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth. Assumes charge nurse responsibility as directed. Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures. Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to CT Hospice Code of Conduct and completes mandatory compliance trainings.
Job Reports to:
Director of Inpatient Nursing and/or his/her designee
Supervises:
CNA's, LPN's, RN's, Unit Clerks and other personnel as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Must have active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Connecticut Knowledge of current nursing medical and health trends and practices in rendering of patient care Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS/ACLS) certification required IV certification/competency preferred Two years recent experience as an RN in a medical/surgical, acute care, AIDS, Hospice Inpatient, and/or oncology unit
Technical Knowledge:
Consistent with licensure
Physical Requirements:
• Position requires ability to frequently push/pull/lift heavy object more than 50 lbs. and lift patients of all weights with a minimum of one (1) assist or assistive device; perform difficult manipulative, arm-hand steadiness and hand-eye coordination skills; walk and stand for prolonged periods. Must be physically able to meet all regulatory requirements.
OSHA Category I:
Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Requires the use of techniques of Body Substance Isolation as evidenced by compliance with bloodborne pathogen standards. The Connecticut Hospice, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
