Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting student health and well-being as a dedicated 1:1 Registered Nurse for the 2026/2027 school year. This role offers the chance to make a genuine impact from mid-to-late August through June 11th, providing individualized care for a student with specific medical needs near Salem, CT. Prior to the school year, you'll have two or three in-home sessions to become familiar with the student and their care requirements.
Key Qualifications:
Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state Prior experience in school nursing, pediatrics, or similar settings preferred Skilled in respiratory care, including suctioning procedures Comfortable monitoring for seizure activity and administering medications as needed Experience with custodial care, personal hygiene, and using adaptive equipment such as a hoyer lift Compassionate, patient, and able to collaborate effectively with paraprofessional support and school staff Exceptional communication and documentation skills
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver vigilant, compassionate 1:1 care to a student with respiratory and seizure concerns Provide routine suctioning and promptly respond to medical needs Administer medications per physician orders and maintain accurate health records Partner with paraprofessionals for custodial care and safe student transfers using adaptive equipment Build trusting relationships with the student, family, and educational team Participate in care meetings and offer health guidance as a valued resource In this meaningful role, you can look forward to consistent contract work in a dynamic educational environment, as well as valuable experience in special needs care and school nursing.
