is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner for locum tenens coverage in Florida. In this role, you will support cardiothoracic surgeons in pre- and post-operative patient management, first assist in the OR, and perform inpatient rounding. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostics, managing chest tubes and drains, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes. You'll document care accurately, follow hospital protocols, and help ensure safe, efficient patient flow while providing compassionate, evidence-based care in a fast-paced surgical environment. Responsibilities Provide pre- and post-operative care to cardiothoracic surgery patients First assist surgeons in the operating room as credentialed Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and daily rounding Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests and labs Manage chest tubes, drains, and post-op hemodynamic monitoring Develop and adjust care plans in collaboration with surgeons and physicians Document encounters and procedures in the EMR accurately and timely Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery, and follow-up care Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support safe discharges and transfers Adhere to hospital protocols, quality, and patient safety standards Required Skills Cardiothoracic surgery patient management First assist skills in the ORAdvanced physical assessment Interpretation of cardiac diagnostics (EKG, imaging, labs) Post-operative hemodynamic monitoring Chest tube and drain management Acute and critical care NP practice Electronic medical record documentation Patient and family education Interdisciplinary team collaboration
