What they do
A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Shift-Nights and Days Sign on bonus and Relocation Maintains safe practice by demonstrating unit-specific clinical competency and compliance with all regulatory standards. Ensures safe and effective handoff communications and documentation between caregivers. Participates in peer interviewing and peer review processes. Communicates courteously with internal and external customers in person or on the telephone. Demonstrates respect for co-workers and develops positive working relationships with other departments. Participates in hourly rounding using the AIDET technique to improve patient outcomes. Incorporates Caring Model behaviors and culturally competent care into daily practice. Adheres to organizational standards for dress and professional appearance. Collaborates and demonstrates teamwork in managing patient flow, promoting timely patient placement by following hospital policy for admission, discharge, and transfer. Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the delivery of nursing services. Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health and unit-specific data for process improvement initiatives. Conducts initial patient assessments within expected timeframes, initiate consults as indicated, and identify patient/family teaching and discharge planning needs.
