Job Description
Wellstar Health System is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse for our Acute Care unit. In this role, you will deliver evidence-based bedside nursing, coordinate care with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, and support patients and families through education and advocacy. Responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, administering medications and treatments, monitoring responses, and documenting in the EMR. You will uphold safety, infection control, and quality standards while contributing to a culture of collaboration, diversity, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Provide direct bedside nursing care to acute care patients following evidence-based protocols Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor vital signs, and recognize and respond to changes in patient condition Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately Document care, assessments, and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to develop and update individualized care plans Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions Maintain infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards in accordance with hospital policies Participate in unit huddles, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing clinical education Support a culture of compassion, diversity, and teamwork aligned with Wellstar's mission Precept or mentor newer nurses or students as appropriate Required Skills Acute care nursing Patient assessment IV therapy and medication administration Electronic Medical Records (EMR) documentation Care planning and coordination Cardiac and respiratory monitoring Wound care management Infection prevention and control Patient and family education Basic life support and emergency response
