Job Description
Wellstar Health System is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide evidence-based respiratory care across our Georgia hospitals and facilities. In this patient-centered role, you will assess, plan, and deliver respiratory treatments, manage ventilators, perform diagnostics, and respond to respiratory emergencies. You'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, document care in the EMR, educate patients and families, and support a safe, inclusive environment. Responsibilities Assess patients and develop individualized respiratory care plans Administer respiratory treatments, therapies, and medications Set up, manage, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and oxygen delivery systems Perform and interpret basic respiratory diagnostics (e.g., ABGs, spirometry) Respond to respiratory emergencies and provide resuscitative support as part of the care team Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR) Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment, and home care Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians to optimize patient outcomes Maintain equipment, follow infection prevention protocols, and ensure a safe care environment Participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives Required Skills Mechanical ventilation management Respiratory assessment and treatment planning Arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation Airway management and suctioning Administration of respiratory medications and therapies Operation of oxygen, Bi PAP/CPAP, and related devices Pulmonary function and bedside spirometry testing Emergency response and resuscitation skills Infection prevention and equipment disinfection Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation
