Every Other Weekend + Weekdays | 3-5 Hours Per Day | Part-Time to Full-Time Potential Are you an experienced RN looking for flexible, meaningful work in home health? Enfermera is hiring a compassionate Registered Nurse to provide one-on-one patient care in the Barrington area. This is a fill-in independent contractor role with real potential to grow into a full-time position. You will work alongside RN case managers to deliver personalized clinical care, support families, and make a direct impact in patients' lives, all on a schedule that works for you. Responsibilities Assess, treat, and monitor wounds, including dressing changes and infection prevention, following current wound-care protocols. Provide hospice-level comfort care, symptom management, and palliative support in a home-care setting. Deliver rehabilitative care, including guided passive and active range-of-motion (ROM) exercises and mobility support, in coordination with the care team's rehab plan. Perform safe patient transfers using a Hoyer Lift. Provide suprapubic catheter care following proper hygiene and safety protocols. Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, within scope of licensure. Provide total physical care support, including bathing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and positioning, as needed. Support the patient with patience, dignity, and empathy. Monitor and record vital signs and clinical status; communicate changes promptly to the supervising physician and care team. Accurately document clinical care, wound progress, and treatment plans using electronic health records (EHR). Maintain a safe, clean, and clinically appropriate care environment. Offer companionship and emotional support to the patient and family, including guidance on hospice and end-of-life care as appropriate. Utilize digital resources, including Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Forms) and other applications, for communication, scheduling, and report generation. Must possess a personal device suitable for required applications. Requirements Active Illinois RN license in good standing Minimum 5 years of nursing experience Experience in geriatric/senior care (dementia care strongly preferred) Background in skilled nursing facilities, nursing homes, or medical-surgical/critical care Strong medication administration and critical thinking skills Available after 11:00 AM | Every other weekend + weekdays Technologically proficient and able to work with moderate supervision Hospice care experience required (this role is home-care based, not a hospice facility placement). Wound care experience required, including wound assessment, dressing changes, and infection-prevention protocols. Rehabilitation experience required, including guided ROM exercises and mobility/rehab support. Hands-on experience with Hoyer Lift transfers and suprapubic catheter care (required). Previous experience providing care to patients with limited mobility. Long-term care, home health, or assisted living experience are highly desirable. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and HIPAA regulations. Strong interpersonal, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills. Why Enfermera?
