A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Highly Trained Certified Medical Assistant Part-Time | Twilight Med | Decatur, Illinois Twilight Med is seeking a highly competent, confident, and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or highly trained Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our small, close-knit private practice. Our office serves pediatric, adult primary care, and Express Care patients through a team of three providers. Our clinical staff are essential to maintaining safe patient care and an efficient workflow. This position requires excellent clinical judgment, strong math skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to communicate professionally with patients, families, providers, pharmacies, laboratories, and outside facilities. Friday:
Hours may range from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Schedule flexibility is required as practice needs change No current weekend hours, although weekend availability may be needed in the future No holidays or on-call responsibilities Health insurance is not offered with this position Primary Responsibilities Complete accurate and thorough patient intake for pediatric, adult primary care, and Express Care patients Review and document medical history, medications, allergies, and current concerns Obtain and accurately document vital signs Obtain pediatric measurements, including weight, length or height, and head circumference Calculate and accurately document weight changes and weight loss Recognize abnormal measurements or concerning clinical information and promptly notify the provider Prepare patients and examination rooms for visits Administer vaccines safely and confidently to pediatric and adult patients Follow vaccine-storage, handling, documentation, and administration requirements Administer simple injections and oral medications as ordered and permitted by the employee's professional scope Monitor patients for immediate reactions following medication or vaccine administration Perform EKGs as ordered; training may be provided Communicate laboratory, imaging, and other testing results to patients or caregivers according to provider instructions Document all patient communication accurately and promptly Obtain medication, imaging, and procedure prior authorizations Schedule laboratory testing, imaging, referrals, and other diagnostic procedures Follow up on outstanding laboratory and testing results Coordinate referrals and communicate with specialists and outside facilities Respond professionally to patient calls, messages, and questions Assist providers with clinical procedures and other duties as needed Maintain appropriate infection-control practices and patient confidentiality Ensure assigned tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and within the expected timeframe Required Skills and Characteristics Demonstrated competency and confidence in administering vaccines Strong math skills and the ability to complete clinical calculations accurately Exceptional attention to detail Excellent organization, memory, and retention of patient information Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and clinical judgment skills Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and maintain an efficient workflow Ability to recognize personal limitations and ask for assistance when needed Confidence to work independently within the appropriate scope of practice Willingness to ask questions before proceeding when instructions or expectations are unclear Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Friendly, upbeat, and welcoming personality Clear and professional verbal and written communication Patience and compassion when working with children and families Nonjudgmental attitude and ability to work respectfully with patients from diverse backgrounds Ability to work cooperatively with providers and other team members Dependability, accountability, and pride in producing high-quality work Professional approach to feedback, workplace concerns, and conflict resolution Minimum Qualifications Current, unrestricted Illinois RN or LPN license, or current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant CMA applicants must have completed formal medical-assisting training Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain it before beginning employment Demonstrated training and competency in vaccine administration Knowledge of medication-administration safety and the applicable scope-of-practice requirements Familiarity with clinical procedures, medical terminology, infection control, and patient safety Comfort using electronic medical records and general office technology Reliable attendance, dependable transportation, and schedule flexibility Ability to successfully complete all required training and competency assessments Clinical experience is strongly preferred. Motivated new nurses may be considered if they demonstrate excellent foundational knowledge, sound judgment, professionalism, attention to detail, and a willingness to ask questions and learn. CMA applicants must have sufficient training and demonstrated clinical competency to perform the assigned responsibilities safely and confidently. All employees must understand and remain within the scope of practice applicable to their individual license, certification, training, and demonstrated competencies. Pay will be relative to the certification of the applicant.
