Job Description

Seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to provide dedicated 1:1 care for a high school-aged female student in Dekalb, IL. This full-time contract role runs until the end of the current school year and offers the rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in a student's daily life. In this position, you will work exclusively with one ambulatory student who does not require bus riding. Responsibilities focus on monitoring a tracheostomy and providing suctioning as needed during the school day. The role is based at a single school, ensuring you can build a trusting, reliable rapport with both the student and educational staff, all within a stable Monday through Friday schedule.
Qualifications:
Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required Experience with tracheostomy care, including suctioning and airway monitoring Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting preferred Comfortable working independently without direct supervision from medical support staff (e.g., CNA, LPN) Excellent communication and documentation skills
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver attentive 1:1 nursing care to a high school student during school hours Monitor tracheostomy site and perform suctioning as necessary to maintain airway Maintain accurate, detailed health records and communicate updates to families and school personnel when needed Promote the students independence and safety throughout daily school routines Respond quickly and appropriately to any health-related emergencies
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM 3:00 PM (includes 30-minute lunch) 35 hours per week, with assignment continuing until May 20th If you are a dedicated RN passionate about supporting students and skilled in trach management, this could be a rewarding fit for you!
