Hospital-based infusion unit Responsibilities Provide direct and indirect patient care in the infusion/consulting services department with attention to age, culture, and psychosocial factors. Initiate IV access via central venous devices or peripheral access; administer blood products or drug infusions as ordered by licensed practitioners. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and reassess pain, adjusting care as needed; document findings and responses. Educate patient and family on treatment plans, potential side effects, and follow-up instructions; provide written materials as directed. Prepare, administer, and monitor medications per policy; manage medication supply and coordinate with the pharmacy to ensure uninterrupted therapy. Ensure patient safety and quality of care; perform and document timely rounds, maintain accurate medical records, and participate in hand-off communications. Assist practitioners with procedures; utilize interdisciplinary resources and safety protocols, including chemotherapy/biotherapy safety measures as appropriate. Requirements Current IL RN license BLS and ACLS certifications
