Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary The Campus Nurse reports to the Health Services Clinical Supervisor and is responsible for providing direct nursing care to students, oversees management of State of Illinois mandated immunization requirements, and participating in any infectious disease response. The Health Services Campus Nurse must be able to work both independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of professionals.

Responsibilities Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
- Perform thorough focused nursing assessment for students with minor illnesses, injuries and other health concerns within the scope of practice.
- Administer immunizations and medications, perform CLIA-waived laboratory testing, perform venipuncture, administer and interpret TB skin testing and other health screenings.
- Maintain accurate, professional and ethical documentation in medical records (written/electronic).
- Provide patient education regarding health promotion, disease prevention and other topics relevant to college health.
- Offers outreach and programming to promote public health and collaborate with wellness center team and campus partners to design and deliver presentation to students, families and other relevant audiences
- Serve as a resource for health-related inquiries.
- Assist students with complying with health-related admission requirements by providing nursing consultation and immunization review for a diverse student population.
- Serve as a resource to students learning to navigate the healthcare process.
- Participate in emergency preparedness training and be prepared to act in crisis/emergency situations, as needed.
- Assist in planning and development of health promotion campaigns and ongoing education for students visiting the health center.
- Participate in student orientation days and visit day activities as requested.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA guidelines.
- Collect, maintain, interpret, and provide statistical data to regulatory agencies as required. (IDPH, WCHD)
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and prescription and over-the-counter medications.
- Participate in planning for department initiatives and assist with making department enhancements as needed, under the direction of the Director.
- Serve on university committees and/or task forces as assigned.
- Maintain current unrestricted licensure and meet continuing medical education requirements; maintain current BLS CPR certification.
- Review and process immunization records in accordance with the State of Illinois immunization requirements for college attendance.
- Assist the Health Services Supervisor/Nurse Practitioner, as directed and needed.
- Perform additional job duties as assigned by the Director in partnership with the Health Services Supervisor/NP. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), or a commitment to pursue BSN degree.
- Current Illinois licensure as a Professional Registered Nurse in good standing.
- Current BLS CPR certification.
- Strong critical thinking and prioritization skills.
- Must be able to work independently and react quickly and responsibly in emergency situations.
- Must be able to recognize circumstances that require referral of patients to a higher level of care, or when to seek emergency care.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to multi-task and work independently.
- Must have strong technological skills and be comfortable with Microsoft Office programs and have experience with electronic medical record use in a clinical setting.
- A clear understanding and concern for college health issues is vital. Preferred Qualifications
- Previous college health or other relevant experience with the adolescent/young adult population.
- Minimum of three years of nursing experience, preferably in a fast-paced ambulatory care clinical setting (immediate/urgent care).
- Experience with vaccine administration
- Experience with health promotion Essential Duties Work hours This is a part-time hourly position 20 hours per week schedule approved by the supervisor between the hours of M-F, 8:30-5pm from August to May.
