What they do
A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Job Description
Summary The physician extender acts as a liaison between physicians, patients, hospital, and office. Performs assessments of patients and documents according to protocol. Accountable for assuring delivery of quality nursing care for the designated patients in accordance with the individual patient's needs, physicians' orders, and PH policies, and standards of practice. Responsible for working collaboratively with management, physician, and coworkers to provide excellent service to our patients. Education Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Licensure/Certification Must hold a current Indiana Registered Nurse license. CPR certification required. ACLS certification preferred. Experience 2 years' experience in a medical setting required-cardiology recommended. Other Qualifications Medical terminology and pharmacology background needed. Basic knowledge of cardiac rhythms in preferred. Essential computer skills and knowledge of electronic medical records recommended. Good verbal and written communication skills required.
