1 Description American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week hospital assignment requiring telemetry and IV start skills with 18 months of experience. Details Med/Surg Tele unit in a hospital setting 1:6 patient ratio Patient population is majority medical (COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, COVID-19, chest pain, small bowel obstruction) with a small surgical caseload (roughly 1-3 post-surgical cases/day) including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, colectomy, mastectomy, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (6:00-18:00) Every other weekend required Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital Cerner charting system used Requirements Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start BLS certification required 1.5 years of recent experience required Telemetry and IV start/maintenance skills required Cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias skills required Cerner charting experience required Graduate of a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE 2 supervisor references required SSN and DOB required for consideration Additional Information Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to a mixed medical and post-surgical patient population Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias as needed Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates (including IN residents) are not accepted for this position Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
