Easy access to continuing education through local institutions, including Purdue, Indiana University, and Valparaiso University Essential Job Functions Coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered emergency care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Conduct thorough patient assessments, document findings accurately, and report status changes promptly to the care team. Provide age-appropriate care and education guided by knowledge of human growth and development. Administer prescribed medications, monitor for adverse side effects, and document administration according to clinical standards. Assist physicians during emergency procedures within designated scope and clinical competency. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create, execute, and evaluate individualized patient care plans. Respond to medical emergencies and participate in life-saving interventions (including CPR and code team activities). Advocate for patient rights, needs, and preferences throughout care delivery. Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatment protocols, and post-discharge care. Execute strict infection control protocols to prevent healthcare-associated infections. Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment (IV pumps, cardiac monitors, ventilators, etc.). Promote patient safety by adhering to National Patient Safety Goals and maintaining a clean, safe clinical environment. Participate in chart audits, compliance checks, and performance improvement initiatives to elevate patient outcomes. Maintain prompt, regular, and reliable attendance while complying with all health system policies. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
1+ years of hospital nursing experience is required
Licensure:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) Indiana State License or Compact State Licensure required.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BCLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred. Key Skills & Competencies Deep understanding of clinical nursing practices, emergency care protocols, and the nursing process. Strong skills in patient assessment, medication administration, and electronic documentation. Exceptional communication and teamwork capabilities in high-volume, fast-paced environments. Solid knowledge of safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and quality assurance standards.
