School board approval Criminal history check Must hold a valid registered nursing license in the state of Indiana Current training and demonstrates competency in tracheostomy care and emergency airway management Current CPR/BLS certification Ability to independently assess and respond to changes in student's condition
Description:
The 1:1 School Registered Nurse provides continuous, individualized nursing care and supervision to a student with complex medical needs during the school day. The nurse is responsible for providing skilled nursing care related to the student's tracheostomy and other identified healthcare needs, maintaining the student's safety and health while participating in the educational environment. This position requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license and the ability to independently assess the student, recognize changes in condition, provide appropriate nursing interventions, respond to medical emergencies, and communicate effectively with the student's healthcare team, family, school staff, and administration.
Job Expectations and Responsibilities:
Provide continuous 1:1 nursing care and direct supervision of the assigned student throughout the school day Provide nursing care in accordance with the student's individualized healthcare plan, physician orders, school policies, and applicable Indiana laws and regulations Provide routine tracheostomy care and management with the RN's scope of practice Recognize and respond promptly to changes in the student's condition, including respiratory distress, airway obstruction, accidental deccanulation, or other medical emergencies Perform other nursing duties directly related to the student's health and safety as assigned
