Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students health and well-being in a dynamic school setting near the vibrant New Orleans area. As a dedicated school nurse, youll play a pivotal role across 1-2 school sites, ensuring quality care for diverse student populations and collaborating closely with education professionals. You will be assigned to wherever the need is greatest; flexibility and a team-oriented mindset are essential. This assignment runs ASAP through late May 2027, offering consistent hours35 per week, with a standard school day schedule plus a lunch break.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid RN license in Louisiana; BSN preferred, ASN accepted Previous experience in a school setting preferred, but a demonstrated passion for working with children is essential Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Sheets Experience caring for students with trachs, g-tubes, diabetes, and creating/maintaining precise medical records Strong communication skills and experience training and delegating to non-medical staff Familiarity with IEPs and conducting health screenings Willingness to serve on either side of the area as assigned, supporting the districts needs Up-to-date on all credentialing, including drug screening and fingerprinting
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the lead nurse for your assigned school(s), delivering care and documenting health services Conduct screenings, manage chronic health conditions, and assist with emergency response Train and guide school staff in health protocols Collaborate on student IEPs and maintain thorough records Communicate proactively with families, staff, and administrators If you are passionate about nurturing student success and health in a school environment and can navigate technology-driven documentation confidently, this role could be an excellent fit.
