Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse, Surgery Circulator, to join our dynamic surgical team. • Duties Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and sterile instruments are available and functioning properly before procedures. Act as the primary patient advocate during surgery by monitoring vital signs, assessing patient status, and responding promptly to any changes or emergencies. Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout all phases of the surgical process to prevent infection and ensure patient safety. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other perioperative staff to facilitate smooth workflow and effective communication during procedures. Document all aspects of patient care accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, including medication administration, procedural notes, and vital signs. Assist with specimen collection and processing, ensuring proper labeling and handling according to laboratory standards. Support preoperative assessments and postoperative care planning, including discharge instructions and patient education. Demonstrate proficiency in advanced skills such as suturing, IV infusion management, catheterization, and airway management when necessary. Experience Proven experience working as a registered nurse within surgical settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, or ambulatory surgery centers. Extensive knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile processing protocols, and infection control standards aligned with NCQA standards. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation and data entry. Prior experience supporting complex surgeries including cardiac catheterization, trauma medicine at Level I or Level II trauma centers, or neurosurgical procedures such as spinal taps or PICU care. Critical care experience in ICU or emergency room environments is highly desirable for managing acute pain and emergent situations effectively. Knowledge of ICD-10 coding standards for documentation purposes; familiarity with CPT coding is advantageous for procedural billing documentation. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring hospice & palliative care services. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure in high-stakes environments such as trauma centers or acute care units while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
