Job Description

Encompass Health is seeking Registered Nurse Residents to launch their nursing careers in an inpatient rehabilitation setting. Residents provide direct patient care, perform assessments, administer medications, and support recovery from major illness and injury. Under the guidance of experienced preceptors, you'll build strong clinical skills in rehabilitation nursing, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, and participate in a structured residency with education, mentorship, and competency development. Responsibilities Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to rehabilitation patients under RN residency program guidelines Conduct and document comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in condition Administer medications and treatments accurately, following hospital policies and protocols Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to implement individualized care plans Educate patients and families on recovery goals, self-care, and discharge instructions Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) Follow infection control, patient safety, and quality standards to support clinical excellence Participate in residency education sessions, skills labs, and competency evaluations Seek feedback and mentorship from preceptors and nurse leaders to advance clinical skills Support a culture of compassion, integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement Required Skills Patient assessment Care planning and documentation Medication administration Wound care Rehabilitation nursing techniques IV therapy Clinical decision-making Electronic health records (EHR) Infection control Interdisciplinary care coordination
