Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students with medical needs on their morning bus route. In this position, you'll provide dedicated nursing care for a small group of children and young adults, ensuring their safety and well-being during transit each school day. Your schedule will involve early mornings, beginning at 6:15 AM with pickup and concluding around 7:45 AM for a total of approximately 7.5 hours per week. Youll accompany students from the Virginia Barton Education Center, offering essential oversight, medication administration, and intervention as needed for chronic and acute conditions. The caseload includes students with seizure disorders, g-tubes, respiratory needs, diabetes, allergies, and other complex medical profiles.
Key Qualifications:
Current and valid LPN or RN license in Massachusetts At least one year of professional nursing experience Expertise and confidence with medically fragile children or young adults Ability to respond quickly and calmly in a high-needs, mobile environment Experience with g-tube care, oxygen administration, seizure protocols, and allergy management preferred Reliable, punctual, and compassionate approach to patient care
Core Responsibilities:
Travel with students on the morning bus route to monitor and address their medical needs Maintain safe, responsive, and attentive supervision during transit Administer medications, perform suctioning, manage g-tubes, and intervene during seizures or allergic reactions as needed Accurately document care provided and communicate any concerns to school staff and families Foster a supportive and comfortable environment for students during their commute Make a difference every day in the lives of students who rely on your expertise and care.
