Job Description Summary Second Unit:
Spine and Pain Weekend Call for 3 or More IV Infusions In collaboration with the Registered Nurse (RN), provides safe, quality care for patients/residents according to individualized care plan that supports patient/resident outcomes. Treats all patients/residents with dignity and respect. Know, follow and maintain resident rights. Assists with over sight of non-clinical and support staff personnel. Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(20%)
  • Assesses patient health care needs, nursing care requirements and the delivery of nursing care for all assigned patient, recognizing the specific individual needs of the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. (20%)
  • Plans and prioritizes care required to meet assigned patients' health care needs. (20%)
  • Implements nursing actions in accordance with established standards of nursing practice and established policy (20%)
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care to ensure responsible and appropriate care is rendered to patients. (20%)
Self-Management:
Holds self accountable for delivery of responsible nursing care, demonstrates effective communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Assumes responsibility for own continued development and assists with the development of other staff members.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in Performance Improvement as required by MyMichigan Health and the job description. Understands and is accountable for MyMichigan Health's customer service standards.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS
Operates equipment as outlined on orientation checklists, policy and procedures. Participates in equipment inservices and competencies as they relate to role expectations. Performs job skills outlined on orientation checklist as they relate to role expectations. Previous direct patient care experience preferred. Medical terminology or related experience preferred. Must have completed an Oncology Care and Cytotoxic Agent Administration course and have one year oncology nursing experience. Oncology Nursing Certificate preferred or its equivalent.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
