As an Emergency Department RN, you'll care for patients with a wide range of urgent and emergent conditions in a fast-paced, team-based environment. What You'll Do Provide patient-centered care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) Rapidly assess, triage, and prioritize patients based on acuity Monitor patient condition and respond quickly to changes Administer medications and treatments in accordance with clinical standards Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams Delegate appropriate tasks within scope of practice Educate patients and families; support safe discharge planning Accurately document care, response, and outcomes Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree in Nursing (required) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred); must obtain within 8 years of hire Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan, in good standing Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon completion of orientation Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, TNCC, etc.) may be required based on unit Additional Requirements Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills Ability to interpret clinical data and communicate effectively Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, and patient handling Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Role Expectations Under general supervision and in accordance with organizational policies, unit guidelines, and the Michigan Public Health Code, the RN manages care delivery throughout the patient's stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge.
Responsibilities include:
Using the nursing process (assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation, evaluation) Coordinating care with other professionals Delegating tasks within scope of practice Providing physical care appropriate to patient acuity Documenting and communicating patient response, resource use, and anticipated needs Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. Bronson-Wide Education Requirements Associate's degree required Bachelor's degree preferred; must obtain within 8 years of hire Failure to obtain BSN within 8 years results in termination (Bronson policy)
Bronson South Haven Specific Requirements Emergency Department:
SALT triage, ESI triage, and NIH Stroke Scale within 90 days ACLS, PALS, and TNCC (TNCC required for FT/PT nurses) within 6 months
Special Care Unit:
PALS within 6 months Additional Department-Specific Requirements Current Michigan driver's license and proof of insurance required for BAH Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various systems Must communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and electronically Physical & Mental Demands High levels of mental/visual fatigue due to detailed, repetitive work Computer use 40-70% of the time Regular lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional heavier assistance Pushing/pulling equipment and materials as needed Standards of Practice The RN is responsible for: Collecting comprehensive patient data Analyzing assessment data to determine patient needs Identifying expected outcomes individualized to the patient Developing and implementing a plan of care Evaluating progress toward expected outcomes Documenting patient response and care effectiveness

Evaluates quality and effectiveness of nursing practice Participates in quality improvement activities Maintains competency through ongoing education Engages in self-evaluation and peer review Contributes to professional development of peers Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams Integrates ethical principles into practice Uses research findings to improve care Considers safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact in care delivery Provides leadership in the practice setting Scrub RN Responsibilities (If Applicable) Interpret procedure cards and assess case carts Anticipate physician needs during procedures Monitor patient condition during operative care Update case information and preference cards Ensure proper use of equipment and instruments Serve as a resource for circulators Participate in after-hours call rotation Perform scrub duties across multiple specialties Swing Bed Requirements (Bronson Lakeview & South Haven) Complete Workday CBL "Swing Beds" annually May be expected to cover shifts at Lakeview or South Haven based on acuity and staffing Shift & Schedule Full Time - Nights & Mid-Shift Bronson Battle Creek Emergency Department
