Job Description As a contingent Registered Nurse in our Labor, Delivery & Postpartum Care unit, you'll deliver exceptional, compassionate patient care during one of life's most transformative moments. This flexible role offers the autonomy to apply advanced clinical expertise while maintaining the schedule that works for you. You'll utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document comprehensive care and patient education. You'll collaborate seamlessly with our interdisciplinary healthcare team to communicate critical patient and family information, identify solutions for care variances, and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care to laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns across varying acuity levels Assess, plan, and implement individualized care plans utilizing clinical judgment and specialized L&D knowledge Provide compassionate patient and family education, advocacy, and emotional support during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery Communicate effectively with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate seamless care delivery Document nursing care accurately and thoroughly in accordance with hospital standards and regulatory requirements Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to solutions that enhance patient outcomes and unit operations Maintain clinical competency through ongoing professional development and adherence to evidence-based practice standards Support a collaborative, supportive unit culture while maintaining flexibility with contingent scheduling needs Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Graduation from an accredited school of nursing Demonstrated clinical knowledge and analytical capabilities required to develop evidence-based nursing care plans Proficiency in delivering comprehensive professional nursing services across diverse patient populations Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare personnel
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED
Current, valid licensure from the Michigan State Board of Nursing Current Health Care Provider BLS - Basic Life Support
