Schedule:

 Afternoons and Midnights; 48 hours per 6-week schedule period, including 24 hours on weekends and/or off-shifts (5:00 PM to 7:00 AM). Henry Ford Medical Center - Sterling Heights is a full-service medical center with providers specializing in adult and pediatric primary care, as well as allergy, cardiology, orthopedics, podiatry, pulmonary medicine, vascular surgery and sleep disorders. Other on-site services include laboratory, radiology and a pharmacy. Also offered at this site is a 24/7 emergency department and a walk-in clinic for non-emergency medical concerns.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Delivers high-quality, compassionate patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document comprehensive care and patient/family education. Communicates critical patient and family information to the healthcare team and collaborates to resolve variances from established patient goals. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients presenting with acute and emergent conditionsPerform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examination, and psychosocial evaluationEstablish and maintain IV access, administer medications, and perform emergency procedures as directed by physician ordersMonitor and respond to changes in patient condition; escalate concerns to the healthcare team immediatelyProvide clear, timely communication of patient status, interventions, and outcomes to physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary team membersEducate patients and families regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up careMaintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient care, assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health recordDelegate appropriate tasks to nursing assistants and support staff while maintaining accountability for patient safetyIdentify and implement solutions to address deviations from patient care goals and expected outcomesMaintain a safe, clean, and organized patient care environment in compliance with infection control and safety standardsDemonstrate proficiency in emergency protocols, including trauma response, cardiac resuscitation, and pediatric emergencies Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Graduation from an accredited school of nursingCurrent licensure by the Michigan State Board of NursingCurrent Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificationCurrent Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificationClinical knowledge and analytical abilities to formulate effective nursing care plansStrong communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
