A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Gibbon, Minnesota Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) provides clinical leadership and oversight for 12 residents residing at South View Living Center in Gibbon, MN. The RN is responsible for resident assessments, care planning, medication and treatment oversight, staff education, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with residents, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team. This position promotes person-centered care while ensuring compliance with Minnesota Assisted Living licensure requirements and supporting a safe, compassionate environment for older adults, including those living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
Schedule Part-time:
3 days per week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and on-call Daytime hours with occasional flexibility for admissions, staff education, or urgent resident needs Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Care Complete preadmission, initial, and ongoing resident nursing assessments. Develop, implement, and update individualized service plans. Monitor residents for changes in condition and communicate with healthcare providers. Coordinate physician orders, laboratory services, pharmacy services, and outside healthcare providers. Ensure appropriate documentation in the electronic health record. Oversee medication management and treatment services. Clinical Leadership Delegate nursing tasks in accordance with the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act. Supervise, coach, and mentor nursing assistants, caregivers and medication aides. Conduct competency evaluations and skills validation for delegated nursing tasks. Provide clinical guidance to staff regarding resident care and emergency situations. Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Memory Care Promote person-centered dementia care practices. Assist staff with behavioral interventions and non-pharmacological approaches. Support families through education and communication regarding dementia progression and care planning. Participate in care conferences and interdisciplinary meetings. Regulatory Compliance Maintain compliance with Minnesota Statutes Chapter 144G and applicable Minnesota Department of Health regulations. Assist with survey preparation and corrective action plans. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and resident records. Participate in development and review of policies and procedures. Staff Education Provide orientation and ongoing education for clinical staff. Conduct medication administration and delegated nursing training. Reinforce infection prevention, resident safety, fall prevention, and emergency preparedness. Family & Resident Relations Build positive relationships with residents and families. Respond promptly to resident and family concerns. Coordinate hospice, home health, therapy, and other ancillary services. QualificationsRequired Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Minnesota. Minimum one year of nursing experience (geriatric, assisted living, memory care, long-term care, or home health preferred). Current CPR certification. Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills. Knowledge of dementia care best practices. Ability to work independently while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. Preferred Experience in Assisted Living or Memory Care. Experience with electronic health records (e.g., ResiDex or similar). Experience with Minnesota Assisted Living regulations. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance. Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and assisting residents with mobility. Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
