Job Description
Mercy is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Specialty GI Clinic. In this role, you'll deliver focused care to patients undergoing GI evaluations and endoscopic procedures. Responsibilities include assessments, IV and medication administration, patient and family education, and collaboration with physicians and clinical teams. You'll support safe, efficient procedures, uphold infection control and documentation standards, and contribute to quality initiatives. Responsibilities Provide specialized nursing care to GI clinic patients across pre
- intra
- and post-procedure phases Perform patient assessments, obtain histories, and monitor vitals and responses to treatment Administer medications, IV therapies, and sedation per provider orders and protocols Prepare procedure rooms, assist physicians during endoscopic and GI procedures, and ensure proper specimen handling Educate patients and families on GI conditions, procedures, and post-visit care plans Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members Document care accurately in the EHR and maintain regulatory and infection control standards Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and evidence-based practice projects Support triage, scheduling, and patient flow to optimize clinic efficiency and access Precept and mentor new staff, supporting Mercy's culture of compassion and professional growth Required Skills GI/endoscopy nursing care IV insertion and medication administration Moderate sedation management Pre•and post-procedure patient assessment Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation Infection prevention and control Vital signs and hemodynamic monitoring Patient and family education Clinical triage and care coordination Quality and safety protocol adherence
