What they do
A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Job Description
Experience:
12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months. 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience. Experience with Epic is preferred.Requirements:
Candidates must have a North Carolina license or compact license (required for submission). This role will require floating to multiple units Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >75 miles from facility to be submitted. COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted. 24 months gap required between for Staff atProgram:
SimpliFi Program- UNC Health Southeastern and no current placement allowed at

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience:
- Trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, Foley care, central line management/dressing changes/blood draws, care of patients on dialysis, care of patients on BiPAP, and heparin drips required.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Experience with post-pacemaker placement and post-cath patients without interventions preferred.
Special Requests:
- RTO requests: ok to approve up to 5 days.
- Block scheduling not guaranteed.
Unit Details:
- Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, diabetes, infections, electrolyte imbalances, altered mental status, sepsis workup, and post-general surgery.
- CNA support ratio 1:9; LPNs are utilized in standard nurse capacity.
- No IV/VAT team; phlebotomy, RT, hospitalist, intensivist, house supervisor/rapid response, and telemetry monitoring support are available 24/7.
- Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, and Spacelabs monitors.
Shift & Scheduling:
- 0700-1930 or 1900-0730.
- Every other weekend.
- No call.
- Holiday rotation required.
Floating Requirements:
- Will be floated if needed to other Med/Surg areas within the facility.
