Job Description

Where You'll Work Good Samaritan's Emergency Services provides the highest level of trauma, surgical and critical care. Our team of nationally and internationally respected experts stands ready to take care of patients with traumatic injuries 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. CHI Health Good Samaritan is designated as an Advanced Level II Trauma Center by the Nebraska Statewide Trauma System, which demonstrates the ability to meet stringent criteria reflecting commitment, excellence and assurance of high quality care for all trauma patients. Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health-Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Nebraska. At CHI Health-Good Samaritan you'll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility. Job Summary and Responsibilities As our ER Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital, you'll be the first touchpoint to the people in our community during health emergencies. Everyday, you will be a multitasker who can react quickly as you prioritize patients based on their medical necessity while providing emergency triage to others. To thrive in this vital role, you should exhibit teamwork, professionalism and critical thinking skills. You should be energetic and motivated to provide quality care to all of our patients, maintaining their dignity at every step. Use emergency triage protocol to intake, discharge or admit patients. Deliver stabilizing care to emergency patients of all ages as part of the larger ER team, adapting care to changes in patient's condition as needed. Use knowledge of cultural differences to provide patient care that is sensitive to and consistent with cultural values, beliefs, and customs. Document the nursing care plan and changes in the patient's condition. Engage in other activities that will benefit patient outcomes, such as patient experience initiatives, mentoring, etc We are offering up to $10,000 sign-on bonus and up to $10,000 educational assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements. Job Requirements Required Graduate of a nursing program Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state BLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) required within 3 months of hire ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required within 5 months of hire PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within 5 months of hire NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required within 6 months of hire TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) required within 12 months of hire ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) required within 18 months of hire.
