Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Bring your nursing expertise to a meaningful, short-term contract supporting a young student's well-being in a school setting near Elizabeth, NJ. This assignment involves one-on-one care for an 8-year-old with cerebral palsy, who is nonverbal, non-ambulatory, and has a G-tube. The student experiences occasional focal seizures when startled and requires consistent compassion and skilled attention throughout the school day, including bus rides. The position covers a medical leave, beginning September 23, 2026, and is anticipated to continue through October 30, 2026 (with a potential extension of one week if needed). You'll benefit from a direct handoff and have the opportunity to ask questions to the nurse you'll be filling in for, ensuring a smooth transition. What we're seeking:
  • Active RN or LPN/LVN licensure in New Jersey
  • Previous experience supporting students in school environments, particularly with one-to-one assignments
  • Strong understanding of G-tube care and familiarity with seizure protocols
  • Ability to provide consistent, compassionate care for nonverbal and non-ambulatory children
  • Reliability for bus transportation responsibilities (approximate hours 7:40/7:50am-3:00pm)
  • Comfort collaborating with school staff, health professionals, and families Role responsibilities:
  • Deliver individualized nursing care during school hours and bus rides
  • Monitor for signs of focal seizures; respond per medical orders
  • Administer G-tube feedings and address medical needs as required
  • Maintain accurate daily health documentation
  • Communicate proactively with school teams and families about the student's health status This role offers an hourly rate of $45-$50, commensurate with licensure and experience.
