Job Description

Overview West Side Presbyterian Church is seeking a caring, dependable, and experienced caregiver to serve in our Nursery on Sunday mornings. The ideal candidate enjoys working with infants and young children and is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for our youngest children. The Nursery Caregiver will provide attentive care for infants and children ages 0-4, helping them feel comfortable, cared for, and welcomed while their parents participate in worship and church activities. This is an important role in supporting children and families as part of our church community. Responsibilities Supervise and care for infants and young children ages 0-4 in the nursery during Sunday morning worship services and occasional special church events. Create a warm, safe, and welcoming environment where children feel secure and cared for. Engage children in age-appropriate activities, including play, books, music, storytelling, simple crafts, and other activities. Comfort and reassure children as needed, particularly those who may be anxious or experiencing separation from their parents. Change diapers and assist with other basic personal care needs. Feed infants and toddlers according to parents' instructions. Follow parents' directions regarding children's routines, feeding, allergies, and other care needs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe nursery environment, including cleaning toys and activity areas as needed. Communicate warmly and respectfully with parents and guardians regarding their children's needs and experiences in the nursery. Work cooperatively with church staff and nursery volunteers to provide consistent and attentive care. Follow all church policies and procedures related to child safety and protection. Qualifications and Experience Previous experience caring for infants and young children is required. Experience working in a nursery, childcare, preschool, church, school, or other setting with young children is preferred. Warm, patient, attentive, and compassionate approach to caring for children. Dependable and responsible, with a strong commitment to being present and punctual for scheduled shifts. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with children, parents, volunteers, and church staff. Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to children's individual needs. Commitment to providing a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for every child and family. Familiarity with Christian faith and a willingness to support the mission and ministry of West Side Presbyterian Church is preferred. Child Protection Requirements All staff members working with children at West Side Presbyterian Church must: Successfully complete a background check . Complete required Safe Church training . Comply with all of the church's child protection policies and procedures . What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being around infants and young children and who will bring warmth, patience, reliability, and care to our Nursery each Sunday morning. The right person will help our youngest children feel safe and welcomed while building trust with their families and supporting the ministry of West Side Presbyterian Church.

$30.00 per hour
