Endoscopy Unit Full Time Days . No weekends or holidays.

JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse in the Pre-operative area duties: Focuses on validation of existing information and completion of preparation of patients both physically and mentally for their endoscopy or surgical experience. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate quality care to the patient in pre-anesthesia area environment. Prepares the patient for self or family care or for care post discharge. Participates in patient/family education The Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care area duties:

• The Post Anesthesia Care RN follows the Nursing Process; assessing, planning, intervening and evaluating to administer quality patient care in meeting the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient recovering from anesthesia and procedures.
• Provides specialized care utilizing equipment and drugs in the immediate post-operative setting.
• Demonstrates and maintains the clinical knowledge and skills required to function as a PACU RN.
• Maintains a high standard of professional conduct and acts as a role model.

Provides a safe and comfortable environment for the patient and staff.

SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

(MINIMUM): Education

• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
• Currently licensed in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse
• Certification - BLS, ACLS (or successful completion within six (6) months of hire.

) Experience One (1) year of previous Preop/PACU experience wanted; or a minimum of two (2) years of Critical Care; or three (3) years Medical/Surgical experience in an acute care hospital setting. Prior Endoscopy experience a plus, not required. Schedule is first shift Monday - Friday; based on patient needs.
