The Anesthesia Pain Service at MSK Basking Ridge is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to provide comprehensive pain management care to adult oncology patients in the outpatient setting. The APP will function with a high level of autonomy, delivering evidence-based care for patients experiencing acute and chronic pain related to cancer and cancer treatments.
Role Overview:
Perform comprehensive assessments of adult oncology patients with acute and chronic pain conditions Develop, implement, and manage individualized pain treatment plans Prescribe and manage pharmacologic therapies, including opioid and non-opioid regimens Evaluate and adjust multimodal pain management strategies in collaboration with attending physicians Provide patient and family education regarding pain management plans and expectations Document all patient encounters, treatment plans, and communications accurately and timely in the Epic electronic medical record system Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal prescribing and documentation regulations Collaborate with multidisciplinary oncology teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality care Function independently within scope of practice while maintaining collaboration with attending pain physicians
Key Qualifications:
Current New Jersey State licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Board certification in specialty area Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program Experience in pain management, anesthesia, oncology, or acute care preferred Proficiency in Epic electronic medical record documentation preferred Demonstrated ability to manage complex patients independently Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
