Health information management Medical terminology Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Registered Nurse to join our dedicated mobile treatment team. In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges across various settings, including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and community programs. Your energetic approach will help foster a supportive environment where patients feel empowered on their journey toward wellness. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized care plans, ensuring each patient receives comprehensive, respectful, and effective treatment. Your expertise in psychiatric nursing will be instrumental in promoting recovery, stability, and improved quality of life for those we serve. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including mental status examinations, vital signs, and physical evaluations to inform individualized care plans. Administer medications accurately, including psychiatric drugs and IV infusions, while monitoring for adverse reactions and effectiveness. Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to manage acute behavioral health episodes safely and effectively. Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive treatment strategies. Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, medication management, and coping strategies to support ongoing recovery. Maintain detailed medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with therapeutic activities, group sessions, and psychoeducational programs designed to promote emotional well-being. Skills Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and dementia care needs in psychiatric settings. Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications administration including injection administration and medication reconciliation processes. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Epic for accurate documentation and patient record management. Expertise in crisis management techniques such as trauma medicine, acute pain management, and behavioral health interventions. Ability to perform physical examinations, vital signs assessment, and basic life support (BLS) procedures confidently. Experience working within hospital environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers or emergency rooms is highly valued. Knowledge of medical terminology related to psychiatry, pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and diagnostic evaluation processes. Skilled in infection control practices including aseptic technique during medication administration or specimen collection. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced settings such as urgent care or inpatient units while maintaining a positive attitude. Excellent communication skills for patient education, case management coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
