1 Description American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown/ICU RN requiring 2+ years of PCU/stepdown/ICU experience and frequent floating between Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units. Details Stepdown role that frequently floats to ICU and MedSurg units 21-bed unit with patient ratios of Stepdown 1:4-5, ICU 1:2, and MedSurg 1:5-6 Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Cares for patients on non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene Manages vascular patients (fem-pop, CEA), NSTEMI, and post-cardiac catheterization with intervention cases Cares for CIWA patients receiving IVP Ativan (no Precedex) Manages peritoneal dialysis, stable BiPAP, heated high-flow oxygen under 80%, and home ventilators (Trilogy) Provides wound care, nebulizer treatments, and hemodialysis coordination with the Dialysis department Uses Meditech EMR Required to work every other weekend and rotate holiday coverage with staff Frequent floating required across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units Requirements Active SC RN license or compact license required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown/ICU experience required ICU experience specifically required for stepdown nurses due to floating expectations Meditech charting experience preferred Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central/peripheral/PICC line management, and blood product administration Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high-flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care Experience with cardiac drip titration, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring Experience with wound care/wound vac, pacemaker management, and pre/post cardiac cath care Community hospital experience preferred Charge nurse experience preferred Additional Information Must be comfortable floating frequently between Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units with varying patient ratios Required to wear royal blue and white scrubs Weekly orientation held every Wednesday Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this position Minimal to no requested time off approved, especially during the first weeks of the assignment Local candidates are not accepted for this position Previous staff must have been separated for at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to reapply Travel experience is preferred but not required, so first-time travelers may be considered
