Job Description

As a Neuro ICU Registered Nurse at HCA Healthcare, you will deliver advanced, evidence-based care to patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions in a fast-paced ICU setting. You will assess, monitor, and manage patients requiring ventilator support, hemodynamic monitoring, and neuro-specific interventions while collaborating with physicians, therapists, and support staff. You will prioritize patient and family education, ensure accurate documentation, and uphold safety, quality, and infection-prevention standards. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive neurocritical care assessments and implement individualized nursing care plans for ICU patients Continuously monitor neurological status, hemodynamics, and ventilator parameters, responding rapidly to changes in patient condition Administer medications, titrate drips, and manage complex devices such as ICP monitors and external ventricular drains per protocol Collaborate closely with neurointensivists, neurosurgeons, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatment plans Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and recovery expectations, promoting understanding and engagement in care Maintain accurate, timely electronic documentation and participate in bedside handoff and multidisciplinary rounds Follow all safety, infection control, and quality standards, participating in unit-based performance improvement initiatives Precept and mentor peers or new team members as appropriate, supporting a culture of learning and teamwork Required Skills Neurocritical care nursing Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation Mechanical ventilation management ICP and neuro-monitoring device management IV medication administration and titration of drips Stroke assessment and NIHSS scoring Cardiac rhythm interpretation (telemetry/ECG) Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Infection prevention and safety protocols Patient and family education in critical care setting
